Placemat Stove
One of the things I remember most about my freshman year in college was the amount of beverages I consumed and the quality of the food. Now the amount of beverages I was consuming was my fault. We drank a lot of beer and our mini fridge was always stocked with a lot of it. The food however was a difficult thing. It was hard to eat healthy on campus. The cafeteria didn’t have anything other than hot dogs, fried chicken and pizza. Not really the healthiest of options. We did have a mini microwave in our room, but most of the foods you make in the microwave are filled with preservatives, sodium and saturated fat. This forced us to eat at local restaurants and fast food chains when we didn’t care for what the cafeteria was serving. I thought of all this the other day when I saw a cool new product out there that would be perfect for college kids and people with small apartments.
Announcing placemat stoves! Yep, I said placemat stoves. This thin, light and portable stove goes wherever you want it to. It is a small but has three heating elements on it. This placemat stove takes up no more space than a normal placemat. How is that for super cool? The placemat stove is made of non toxic liquid silicon rubber or LSR for short. What’s better is that the heating elements heat up and cool down rapidly because they use something called silver thermal conduction for the cooking process. This portable placemat stove is easy to store because it just rolls up or folds.
I guess if you had this placemat stove and a mini refrigerator your dorm room, apartment of office would be complete. I would have loved have been able to make spaghetti, soups and other healthy and hot meals in college. Now, when my kids go away to school I will surely be packing a placemat stove for them.
